Phenolic Acid Cured Resin

A fast-curing, high-strength acid-catalysed no-bake binder built for cast iron, SG iron and Ni-Hard casting production — engineered for consistent bench life, high productivity and reliable strip strength on every pour.

Product Overview

A proven no-bake system for high-volume iron casting

Phenolic Acid Cured resin is a two-component, self-setting no-bake binder system built around an acid-catalysed phenolic (novolac-type) resole resin. Part I is the liquid phenolic resin; Part II is a liquid acid catalyst that controls how fast the sand mixture develops handling and full strength. Because the catalyst percentage can be adjusted, foundries can fine-tune work time and strip time to match ambient temperature, sand type and production speed.

At BR Chemicals, every batch of our Phenolic Acid Cured resin is tested in-house for viscosity, solid content and reactivity, so foundries get the same bench life, tensile strength and finish on every drum — whether it's a single trial batch or a full tanker delivery.

Why This Grade

Built for productivity on the moulding floor

An acid-cured system chosen for its speed, strength and cost-efficiency on high-volume iron casting lines.

01

Fast, Adjustable Cure

Catalyst percentage can be tuned to give fast, medium or slow strip times to match your production schedule.

02

High Green & Cured Strength

Delivers the tensile and compressive strength needed for dimensionally accurate, defect-free castings.

03

Cost-Effective Chemistry

A proven, economical no-bake system that keeps binder cost per mould low without compromising quality.

04

Good Sand Reclamation

Compatible with thermal and mechanical reclamation practices, helping reduce new sand consumption.

Where It Performs

Applications

  • ✓ No-bake moulding for cast iron (CI) castings
  • ✓ SG (ductile) iron casting production
  • ✓ Ni-Hard and other abrasion-resistant iron castings
  • ✓ Non-ferrous casting applications
  • ✓ High-volume, cost-sensitive moulding lines
  • ✓ Jobbing foundries needing flexible strip-time control
Technical Snapshot

What makes up the system

Part I

Phenolic Novolac Resin

An acid-curable phenolic resole resin — the base binder component, mixed with sand ahead of the catalyst.

Part II

Liquid Acid Catalyst

Controls gel and strip time — dosage is adjusted for fast, medium or slow grades based on shop temperature.

Result

No-Bake Sand Binder

A self-setting mould/core system with high strength, good flowability and easy shakeout after pouring.
