Phenolic Urethane Cold Box Resin
A high-speed, three-part polyurethane cold box binder system engineered for iron, steel and non-ferrous foundry mass production — delivering instantaneous ambient gas curing, micron-accurate dimensional precision, and optimal core room productivity with zero tooling heat.
A Proven Cold Box Binder For High-Speed Core Making
Phenolic Urethane Cold Box (PUCB) resin is an advanced three-component foundry binder system engineered specifically for automated core shooter machines and high-volume mass production. Part I is a formulated liquid phenolic base resin dissolved in specialty organic solvents; Part II is an MDI-type polyisocyanate activator; and Part III is a vaporized tertiary amine gas catalyst (TEA / DMEA). The prepared sand mix is blown cold into core boxes, and upon exposure to the amine vapor, undergoes instantaneous chemical crosslinking at room temperature without requiring heated core tooling.
At BR Chemicals, each batch of our Phenolic Urethane binder and polyisocyanate activator is rigorously tested in our quality assurance laboratory for viscosity, reactivity, solid content, and bench life stability. This ensures foundries achieve consistent sand flowability, immediate strip strength, and clean shakeout on every production shift — whether casting complex automotive engine blocks or heavy industrial components.
Built For Productivity On The Core-Making Floor
A gas-cured cold box system chosen across India for its cycle speed, dimensional repeatability, and exceptional energy efficiency.
Zero Tooling Heat
Cures at ambient room temperature, significantly lowering foundry energy costs and prolonging core box pattern life.
Micron Precision
Superb sand flowability enables consistent packing of deep pockets, thin ribs, and intricate core contours with minimal scrap.
Rapid Strip Strength
Cores develop immediate handling and tensile strength within seconds of gassing, speeding up line cycle rates.
Fast Collapsibility
Breaks down efficiently after metal pouring, ensuring fast, clean sand shakeout even from enclosed casting cavities.
Foundry Applications
- ✓ High-volume automotive casting cores (cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, water jackets, manifolds)
- ✓ Grey Cast Iron (CI) and SG (ductile) iron casting core rooms
- ✓ Carbon steel and alloy steel core manufacturing requiring high hot strength
- ✓ Non-ferrous foundry operations, including aluminium, brass and bronze castings
- ✓ Hydraulic valve bodies, fluid pumps, and transmission housings requiring strict wall tolerances
- ✓ Automated cold box core shooter machines requiring extended mixed sand bench life
The Three-Component System Chemistry
Phenolic Base Polyol
Specially formulated phenolic resin in organic solvents, engineered to coat sand grains evenly with low binder addition levels.
Polyisocyanate Activator
High-purity polymeric MDI crosslinker that couples with Part I upon exposure to the catalyst to form rigid urethane bonds.
Tertiary Amine Catalyst
Vaporized amine gas (TEA or DMEA) purged through the blown core box, triggering an immediate and uniform chemical cure.
