Synergistic Spirit Refractory Wash for Heavy Castings
Alcohol-based Zircon-Graphite coatings (spirit-carried) are specialized foundry mould and core washes engineered with a dual-filler refractory matrix. By combining micro-fine Zircon Flour ($\text{ZrSiO}_4$) for extreme thermal stability up to $1750^\circ\text{C}+$ with high-purity crystalline flake Graphite, this formulation creates a smooth, heat-dissipating, carbonaceous non-wetting shield over sand surfaces.
Using pure isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or denatured foundry spirit as the volatile carrier, the coating can be instantly ignited (torched) immediately following application. This rapidly flashes off the solvent, curing a dense, non-dusting layer without requiring baking ovens or causing moisture-related gas defects in moisture-sensitive resin binders like Furan No-Bake, Phenolic Urethane Cold Box, or Silicate-$\text{CO}_2$ processes.
