Water Based Refractory Coatings

Eco-friendly, non-flammable refractory coatings engineered to protect sand moulds and cores from metal penetration, veining and burn-on — delivering a smoother casting finish across ferrous and non-ferrous foundries.

Product Overview

A safer, cleaner way to protect every mould

Water Based Refractory Coatings are applied as a thin, uniform layer on the mould or core surface to create a barrier between molten metal and the sand aggregate. Suspended refractory fillers — zircon, graphite, alumino-silicate or blends of these — form a heat-resistant skin once the coating dries, preventing metal penetration, sand burn-on and veining defects while giving the finished casting a smoother, cleaner surface.

Being water-based rather than solvent- or alcohol-based, these coatings are non-flammable, low-odor and safer to store and apply, without compromising on refractoriness or coverage. At BR Chemicals, every batch is tested in-house for density, viscosity and suspension stability before dispatch.

Why Water Based

Built for a cleaner, safer moulding floor

A water-based system chosen wherever fire risk, fumes and casting surface quality all matter together.

01

Non-Flammable

No solvent or alcohol base means no flash-off flame risk during application, drying or storage.

02

Smooth Casting Finish

Fine refractory particles form an even barrier layer, reducing surface roughness and rework.

03

Excellent Suspension Stability

Formulated to stay in suspension with minimal settling, so density stays consistent from first dip to last.

04

Dip, Spray or Flow-Coat

Works across common application methods, with drying by air or low-temperature oven.
