Foundry Resins

Furan, phenolic urethane and phenolic no-bake resins manufactured for consistent bench life, clean strip-off and predictable strength โ€” batch after batch.

Foundry Resin Manufacturer

No-bake & cold-box resin systems for every major casting alloy

BR Chemicals manufactures foundry resins used in no-bake and cold-box moulding processes for ferrous and non-ferrous castings. As a dedicated foundry resin manufacturer based in Gujarat, we produce furan acid-cured resin, phenolic urethane (cold-box/no-bake) resin, alkaline phenolic ester-cured resin and phenolic acid-cured resin โ€” each formulated for a specific combination of alloy, moulding process and strength requirement rather than sold as a one-size-fits-all binder.

Every batch is checked for density, viscosity, compressibility and moisture before dispatch, so the resin you receive performs the same way the last drum did. Below is a detailed look at each grade we manufacture, along with guidance on choosing the right one for your foundry.

Our Resin Grades

Four resin systems, each built for a specific job

FURAN
No-Bake

Furan Acid-Cured Resin

Furan acid-cured resin is a no-bake binder system used for producing sand moulds and cores for cast iron, SG iron and Ni-Hard castings. Once mixed with a compatible acid catalyst, it cures at room temperature, giving foundries a fast-stripping process without heat or gassing equipment. Our furan resin is formulated for consistent flowability and a predictable working time, so pattern shops can plan strip times around a known bench life instead of guessing batch to batch. It's a common first choice for foundries running high sand-to-metal ratios and looking for good collapsibility after pouring.

PU / PUCB
Cold-Box & No-Bake

Phenolic Urethane Resin

Phenolic urethane (PU/PUCB) resin is a two-part binder system used in both cold-box and no-bake moulding for ferrous and non-ferrous castings. Part I (phenolic resin) and Part II (polymeric isocyanate) react in the presence of a catalyst or amine gas to form a strong, dimensionally accurate mould or core. We manufacture PU resin for foundries that need tight dimensional tolerances and clean strip-off โ€” particularly for cores with intricate geometry where dimensional accuracy affects final casting quality.

ALKALINE
No-Bake

Alkaline Phenolic Ester-Cured Resin

Alkaline phenolic ester-cured resin is a no-bake system suited to steel, stainless steel and manganese steel castings, where low nitrogen and low sulphur content in the binder matters for weld integrity and surface finish. Because it's alkaline rather than acid-cured, it avoids some of the veining and gas-related defects that can occur with acid-cured systems on high-alloy steel castings. We manufacture this resin for foundries pouring high-manganese and stainless grades that need a binder chemistry compatible with their metallurgy.

PHENOLIC
No-Bake

Phenolic Acid-Cured Resin

Phenolic acid-cured resin is a no-bake binder developed for cast iron, SG iron and Ni-Hard applications where high tensile strength in the mould or core is a priority. It's often selected for larger or more complex castings where the mould needs to hold its shape and strength through handling and pouring. We formulate this resin for consistent cure rates and strength development, so foundries get predictable performance across production runs.

Selection Guide

How to choose the right foundry resin

Choosing between furan, phenolic urethane and phenolic resin systems usually comes down to three factors: the alloy being cast, the moulding process already in use on the floor, and how much dimensional accuracy the casting requires.

Cast Iron / SG Iron

No-Bake Moulding

Furan acid-cured or phenolic acid-cured resin, selected based on required tensile strength and desired strip time.

Tight Tolerances

Cold-Box Cores

Phenolic urethane resin for dimensionally accurate cores, especially with intricate core geometry.

Steel / Stainless / Manganese Steel

Low-Nitrogen Binder

Alkaline phenolic ester-cured resin, chosen for its low nitrogen and sulphur content and metallurgical compatibility.

FAQs

Common questions about our resins

What is the difference between no-bake and cold-box resin systems?
In no-bake systems, the resin cures at room temperature after being mixed with a liquid catalyst, giving a working time before the sand hardens. Cold-box systems cure almost instantly when the core is gassed with a catalyst, which suits high-volume core production. We manufacture phenolic urethane resin for both processes.
Which resin is best for cast iron and SG iron castings?
Furan acid-cured resin and phenolic acid-cured resin are both commonly used for cast iron and SG iron castings in no-bake moulding, chosen based on required tensile strength and desired strip time.
Can BR Chemicals recommend a resin grade for my foundry?
Yes. Share your alloy, moulding process and production volume through our enquiry form and our technical team will recommend a suitable grade.
Do you supply resin in bulk quantities?
We manufacture at a capacity of 6,000 MT of resin per year and supply in bulk to foundries across India. Contact us with your requirement for availability and lead time.
