Solvent Based Refractory Coatings

Fast-drying, alcohol/solvent-based refractory coatings engineered for quick turnaround moulding — protecting sand moulds and cores from metal penetration, veining and burn-on while delivering a clean casting finish.

Product Overview

Fast-drying protection for high-turnaround moulding

Solvent Based Refractory Coatings are formulated with a fast-evaporating carrier (typically isopropyl alcohol) that lets the coating dry within minutes, either by air or with a quick flame pass — no oven cycle needed. Suspended refractory fillers such as zircon, graphite or alumino-silicate form a heat-resistant barrier once dry, preventing metal penetration and giving castings a smoother, cleaner surface.

This fast-dry advantage makes solvent-based coatings a preferred choice for no-bake moulding lines and jobbing foundries where mould turnaround time is critical. At BR Chemicals, every batch is tested in-house for density, viscosity and suspension stability before dispatch.

Why Solvent Based

Built for speed without giving up finish quality

A solvent-based system chosen wherever fast mould turnaround matters as much as casting surface quality.

01

Rapid Drying

Dries in minutes by air or flame ignition, removing the need for a dedicated drying oven cycle.

02

Smooth Casting Finish

Fine refractory particles form an even barrier layer, reducing surface roughness and fettling work.

03

Excellent Suspension Stability

Formulated to stay in suspension with minimal settling, keeping density consistent dip after dip.

04

Dip, Spray or Flow-Coat

Works across common application methods, suited to both no-bake and shell moulding processes.
